Nanodots video technique series by Szaki
Welcome to the Nanodots video technique series. In just few short moments, you'll be discovering the amazing world of Nanodots(TM) magnetic constructors.
In this video, you will learn the fundamental properties of the spherical Nanodot magnet and how they interact with each other to form lines.
Using loops, you can create parallel connected dot surfaces like those required to make cubes.
By connecting strings of aligned poles, you form staggered connections, which are much more stable.

1-2: basic surfaces
Nanodots video technique series by Szaki
In this video, you will learn how to make flat and conical surfaces, including hexagons, pentagons, tetragons and trigons. Surfaces are essential building blocks for making more complex structures.
The general dot count formula for conical surfaces is:
f(n, k) = k • n • (n+1)/2
where n must be greater than 1 and k must be greater than 2. (+1 for the center dot)
You will also see how to make the more stable form of a pentagon by altering the direction of succeeding levels, which also creates a very interesting visual effect.
1-3: basic triangles
Nanodots video technique series by Szaki
In this video, you will learn to make basic triangles, which can be a base element of many complex formations.
Generally, larger triangles will be less stable. However, later tutorials will show how to make large stable triangles.
The record holder of the largest magnetic sculpture was presented to Nano Magnetics in Hollywood California on January 14, 2011 in the GBK celebrity gift suite in honor of the Golden Globes.
The completed structure consisted of 550,000 individual Nanodots, and weighed over 600 Lbs!
